Why Plant A Church In Orlando?
It's no secret that Orlando is known for having one of the highest numbers of population disconnected from the Gospel. Many residents are either unchurched or de-churched, which means there are people right now who are struggling and feeling lost, like sheep without a shepherd. They either don't know Jesus or have become disconnected from Him. Understanding this reality, it's impossible not to feel compassion for those who are lost in this city. That's the primary reason we feel called to plant a new gospel-centered church in Orlando.
Another compelling factor that has captured our attention is the significant concentration of Brazilians residing in Central Florida, particularly in Orange County. According to the General Brazilian Consulate, an estimated 200,000 Brazilians call Central Orlando home.
We believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), the martial art, can be a powerful tool to reach these people. Orlando is a hot spot for BJJ, hosting more than 30 BJJ academies in Orange County alone. Several former MMA and BJJ champions have established their gyms in town, attracting hundreds of people to train in this martial art. Numerous tournaments take place here, including the Pan Kids, one of the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events globally, drawing top-level competitors from around the world. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers a unique combination of effective self-defense techniques, competitive opportunities, fitness benefits, mental growth, and a strong sense of community. It has become one of the most popular martial arts and sports in the world, appealing to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, from young children to seasoned professionals, students to CEOs.
We envision a vibrant and diverse church emerging from this endeavor, and we are fervently praying for individuals who share our passion for Jesus and a deep desire to witness non-believers turning to worship God. We invite you to join our family on this incredible journey.
