NETWORK UPDATE | August 2024

OCPN Finishing and Foundational Graduates

It’s official, Kenny Ortiz, Victor Moura, and Samy Anderson – our 2nd cohort of the finishing residency – have completed their time in the program and have graduated!

Kenny Ortiz is planting Horizon City Church in Horizon West.

Victor Moura is serving with Village Point Church while also working towards planting a church among Brazilians in Horizon West.

Samy Anderson is planting Esperaça BPC Tampa

The inaugural cohort of the Foundational Residency was Jean St. Jean, Cesar Contreras, Austin Darrow, Brandon Romero, and Carlos Azurmendi. These men have also completed their time in the program and have graduated!

Jean St. Jean and Cesar Contreras are stepping into the 2024-2025 Finishing Residency Cohort to pursue planting a church this next year. Austin Darrow will continue serving at One Family Church in Apopka and is considering joining the Finishing Residency next year with plans to pursue planting a church in Sanford. Brandon Romero will continue serving at New City Fellowship in Hunters Creek and will hopefully join the Finishing Residency in a few years. Carlos Azurmendi will continue serving at Mosaic Church in Winter Garden and plans to pursue further theological training and development as a disciple and leader.

We celebrate all that God has done and is doing through each of these men as they have completed these training programs. We are grateful for the ways in which each one has been faithful in this process and allowed us the privilege of being a part of their story.

Monthly Gatherings - Fall kick off

We will kick off again with our next Pastors and Planters Luncheon on September, 11th, 2024. We have moved these monthly gatherings to the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Our fall dates for the monthly gatherings are September 11, October 9th, November 13th, and December 11th.

Our guest speaker for September’s gathering will be Jeff Bennett. Jeff is the Vice President of Church Multiplication for Stadia Church Planting. We look forward to seeing you then and would encourage you to invite other pastors and leaders to join you for the September gathering.  Register to a Gathering: https://www.plantorlando.org/gatherings

2024-2025 OCPN Finishing & Foundational Residencies

We are gearing up for the third group of church planters to jump into the next round of the Finishing and Foundational Cohorts. We have 6 church planters who will be joining us for the 2024-2025 Finishing Residency Cohort. We are incredibly excited to be doubling the size of the Finishing Residency Cohort as we move into our third year of running this program.

We have 4 leaders planning to be a part of the 2024-2025 Foundational Residency Cohort. We would love to have a few more leaders in the Foundational Cohort and are still accepting interested candidates.

It is amazing to see what God is doing through our small but growing network of churches and the leaders that are courageously stepping into their calling to plant new churches.

As we continue growing this network, we want to continue to press into these values:

  • SATURATION: gospel impact in every neighborhood and among every people group in Central Florida.

  • FORMATION: healthy and equipped church planters leading healthy and effective churches.

  • COLLABORATION: a unified effort of local churches working together to see Kingdom impact in our city and region.

  • MULTIPLICATION: a movement of church planters, churches, and networks on mission together to reach greater Orlando.

Our goal in 10 years is to be able to look back and see 250 leaders trained and 85 new churches planted in Central Florida. If you are already participating and partnering with us in this work, thank you!

If you are not partnering with us yet, here are three ways you can start today:

1.Attend a Gathering this fall and invite other leaders to join you.

2.Recommend our Residencies to potential future planters.

3.Give financially to support our shared mission of gospel saturation through church planting.
